With the winter weather in full swing nows a good time to start that service & tune up, not sure of how to adjust your carb after the rebuild heres a guide to running in and making adjustments starting with both L & H screws out 1.5 turns
Running in procedure for dual ring 2 stroke, bench running (or on back) ;
3min fast idle (3k)
Engine off, cool for 2min
5min mid range (4-5k)
Eof, cool for 5mins
10mins hold mid 10sec bursts to full throttle, before engine cut 20sec full throttle to cut (don’t let idle).
EOF, whilst cooling remove plug and check colouring, running in should be a little rich look for sooty dark brown, any grey or white adjust both carb screws out
H out 30’
L out 15’
If colour looks good 20min flight with bursts of 10sec climbing to max 1500’
Land recheck plug colour
After 60mins total run in time you can start tuning for performance and smoothness.
adjust L screw in 10’ each time and test;
Start engine on back allow to settle into idle, then grab full throttle as quick as you can, if it transitions without hesitation low end is too rich and will cause a lumpy midrange where you do most of your flying, keep adjusting in 10’ until you notice a very slight hesitation before transition to full power.
If when you grab full power fast from idle the engine stalls then L is too lean, repeat above but 10’ out each time.
Don’t lean H until you have at least 2hrs runtime with a carbon/dark brown spark plug.
Adjusting H, 15’ in then test fly to 1-1500’ for 20mins until the spark plug is nice chocolate colour no hint of grey or black - grey you’ve gone to lean, black still rich
